Lifesg App is one of the strategic national projects of the Smart Nation initiative in Singapore. Singapore and its permanent residents can receive government payments through apps instead of paper checks and vouchers.

Depending on which program they are eligible for, users can send government payments to bank accounts linked to the PayNow NRIC or spend at merchants that offer scan and pay via PayNow UEN or NETS QR

GovTech and OCBC Bank have partnered to develop a digital payment service leveraging the bank's application programming interface and the agency's GovWallet solution for individuals. This service is not limited to OCBC Bank customers. It is available to all recipients of government payments. Three government agencies — the Department of Defense (MINDEF), the Department of Home Affairs (MHA), and the CPF Board (CPFB) — have adopted the service to operate their payment systems without checks or paper vouchers.

The payment service will also be used in August to issue TPS vouchers. Before launching this payment service, the three agencies issued around 600,000 paper checks and vouchers in 2021. Since the digital payment service uses the infrastructure of PayNow and NETS,

merchants who already accept this payment do not need to do any additional registration. More than 164,000 and 43,000 merchants are currently registered with PayNow and NETS. Recipients can easily track their government payment balances and transaction history in the Lifesg App. They have the flexibility to spend any amount within their delivery limit, rather than the one-off minimum that paper vouchers limit.

GovTech and OCBC Bank said they expect more government agencies to adopt the digital payments service in the coming months, with transactions expected to surpass 1 million in the first year.

About Lifesg App

TheLifesg App, officially known as the National Service 55 (NS55) Recognition Package, is an award given to former and current Nazi soldiers for their contribution to Singapore's defense and security. All past and current SAF and HomeTeam NSFs will receive a S$100 credit to redeem at participating retailers.

Authorized employees will be notified by email. Credits will be gradually added to each person's account from July 1 through July 30, 2022. To redeem credits or check your balance, you can download the Lifesg App and then sign in with SingPass.

In addition to the cash credit, NSMmen can get a free SAFRA or HomeTeamNS premium membership for one year. Free membership to Safa requires a separate registration. Lifesg App was originally developed for children

Lifesg App has an original story, and Lifesg App begins with a poem for those just beginning their lives: newborns and their parents.

The idea was simple. New parents find it stressful because there is so much documentation to do when the baby comes into this world. The first version of our app aims to provide birth registration information, and vaccination records and to streamline the whole process from birth registration to baby bonus application, reducing the usual cost for the user (from 60 minutes to now 15 minutes!). by saving

Now we don't want to brag, but since its launch in 2018, 7 out of 10 births in Singapore have been registered with the app - we're very proud of that!

How can we offer everyone the same level of benefit and access?

An installed app isn't always what we had in mind During the planning phase, we considered different apps for different demographics: one for seniors, one for professionals, and one for parents.

This approach had many advantages—personal apps were quick to develop and easy to design—but we quickly found that a single citizen often filled many different roles. For example, A user can be a father, own a vehicle, work a 9-5 job, and volunteer on weekends. That means if we go the private app route, they have to download 6-10 different apps to do business with the government.

As of May 2019, about 170 government-related apps were available - an impressive array of services, no doubt - but when you factor in the differences in learning curves, the overhead of using multiple apps, and the cost of maintaining those apps, the losses really start to add up sum up.

Even when they're not using apps, browsing multiple websites and services can leave citizens feeling lost, frustrated, or bombarded with information they can't digest.

Check other state benefits through the Lifesg App

If you're one of those people who download the Lifesg App just for NS55 credits, you might be surprised to learn that NS55 credits aren't the only benefits that can be accessed through the app.

Your personal benefits such as GST Voucher (GSTV), SkillsFuture Credit, and NS-related rewards such as NSEA, NS Holiday Gifts, and Home Rewards are also available through the app. You can see what GSTV benefits you can enjoy through the app.

Here's what you can expect:

For those who are unable to receive special payments via GSTV – Cash and GSTV – Cash Bank Account, payment is made via GovCash, which you can withdraw from any OCBC ATM, or via the scan end of the Lifesg App.

As with NS55 credit, these amounts can be used by scanning and paying, provided the merchant or provider you are paying with has a PayNow UEN QR or NETS QR.

Note that different NS Identity balances cannot be combined as they are issued on different cards. However, you can purchase items for S$200 by notifying the merchant that you are paying S$100 each in multiple transactions.
