Part 1

Learn Minesweeper mechanics

Part 2

Download Minesweeper

1) Open the Start screen titled Windowsstart.png. Click on the Windows logo in the lower-left corner of the screen.

2) Enter the store at the beginning. This will search the store app on your computer.

3) Microsoft Store App Icon v3.png Open an image named Microsoft Store. At the top of the Start window, click on the Microsoft Store search result.

4) Click on the "Search" bar. It's in the upper-right corner of the Microsoft Store window.

5) Look for Minesweeper. Enter Microsoft Minesweeper in the search bar and wait for the drop-down menu to appear at the bottom of the bar.

6) Click on Microsoft Minesweeper. It is located below the search bar in the drop-down menu.

7) Click on Receive. It's a blue button under the heading "Microsoft Minesweeper". This will install Minesweeper on your computer.

Part 3

Play Minesweeper

1) Open Minesweeper. Once Minesweeper is installed, click Start when prompted, or open a startup image titled WindowsStart.png, type Minesweeper, and click the green Microsoft Minesweeper app.

2) Select the difficulty level. Start at the top left of your first game window by clicking on one of the following difficulty settings:

• Simple 9x9 - Nine by nine grid with 10 leads.
  
• Medium 16x16 - Sixteen by sixteen grids with 40 leads.
• Expert 30x16 - 36 grid with 99 mines.
• Custom - Set your own game parameters including grid size, number of mines, etc.

3) Navigate through the tutorial if you want. If this is your first game in Microsoft Minesweeper, you will be asked to start a tutorial that will help you learn the basics of Minesweeper.

• If you do not want to play through the tutorial, click Drop at the top of the window instead.

4) Click on any square on the grid. The Minesweeper game begins.

5) Check the numbers. Each number on the board currently refers to the number of mines touching the square of that number.

6) Right-click on any square that you think has mines. He will put up a flag in the square. To help with the latter elimination process it is best to start with spaces made entirely of mines (e.g. a space next to "1" on the board).

• Make sure you don't mark more spaces on the board than the number of spaces.

7) Double-click any right square with the right mouse button. This will put a question mark on the square, indicating that you want to leave the square alone until you exclude the other square.

• This is a safe strategy for a board that has all but two or three mines.

8) Click on any cell that does not have mines. This will delete those sections.

9) Clear the board. To win the Minesweeper round, you need to click on each square of the board which has no mine below. Once it's done, the game is over.

• If you accidentally click on the box below which the mine is located, the game will end. You have the option to start a new game or restart the game you just played.

Tips

The more you play Minesweeper, the more you learn to find patterns showing mines (or lack of mines).

When you see the "121" pattern along a straight line, place the flag on the flag and go to number 2.
